WMS celebrates National Library Week

Varian Johnson, former WMS student and notable children's author, spoke with students on April 11 about his experiences growing up in Florence and his journey to become an author, which started at WMS as a student. We were thrilled that the Florence County Library generously included us in Varian's schedule, and we thank Eastern Carolina Community Foundation, Friends of the Florence County Library, and Otis Elevator for sponsoring Varian's presentations.

Williams Advanced Orchestra receives Superior with Distinction Rating

WMS is proud to announce that our Advanced Orchestra received the highest rating at orchestra assessment:Superior with Distinction! The orchestra performed three pieces that they practiced ahead of time, and one new one they had only 10 minutes to learn. The advanced orchestra consists of 7th & 8th grade students and is led by Mr. John Roe.

WMS Beta Club attends regional convention in Myrtle Beach

Williams Middle School Beta Club attended South Carolina’s 31st Annual Junior Beta Convention. There were 5000 people in attendance, and WMS Beta Club competed against other Beta Clubs across the state of South Carolina. We placed in the following events for nationals: Drawing (2nd place)-Nyasha Patel, Digital Art-Mashiro Kawai (3rd place), 8th Grade Mathematics-Kevin Zhao (4th place), Speech-David Hyman (4th place), and Performing Arts Small Group-Akeem McDaniel II, Aubrey Simon, Ayushi Prajapati, Christina Harrison, and London Small (4th place). These students will have the honor of representing Williams Middle this summer in Savannah, GA, at the National Convention.
