- instructing students and assisting educators in using, evaluating, and producing information and ideas through active use of a broad range of appropriate tools, resources, and information technologies
- providing access to materials in all formats, including up-to-date, high quality, varied literature to develop and strengthen a love of reading

Media Center News: Encouraging At-Home Reading
Did you know that all students visit the Media Center every 3 weeks with their ELA teachers? Reading is a vital component of academic success, and the books chosen during these visits are an integral part of their ELA curriculum and personal growth. Students who need a new book sooner than 3 weeks are welcome to submit a SmartPass request to come to the Media Center at their convenience.
Parents and guardians, please support at-home reading. Encourage your student to read nightly and on weekends; this significantly aids their success. Reading self-selected books boosts reading fluency. Discussing their reading improves comprehension. Modeling reading yourself establishes good habits and provides self-care for you. Thank you for helping us foster a love of reading!

Mrs. Richardson
I am originally from Seattle, Washington, and have a Bachelor's of Science from Cornell University. After college, I spent 20 years overseas--17 in Russia, and 3 in England. I have a Master's in Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina. This is my eighth year working in F1S. All 3 of my children were students at Williams, and I am faithful to the Tigers! I get excited about helping people find the information they are looking for, and I love working with students, teachers, and parents at Williams Middle School. Call or email me anytime and I'll be happy to speak with you.
