Welcome

Williams Middle School, named after the award-winning Dr. Willie Lee Williams, is located on the north edge of the historic district of downtown Florence, South Carolina. Williams proudly serves over seven hundred students in seventh and eighth grades. Dr. Williams was a graduate of Shaw University and Meharry Medical College, and he practiced medicine in Florence, South Carolina for over fifty years. Dr. Williams was always a strong advocate of equality and excellence in education for students and believed that all students were capable of learning. It was his philosophy that a rigorous core curriculum was the best way to prepare students to become productive citizens. His leadership enhanced, enriched, and engaged citizens, and he was recognized at large for his Civic and Humanitarian efforts. The Dr. Willie Lee Williams French Award was earned by a Williams Middle School student who excelled in French for a number of years. We consider it a privilege to honor Dr. Williams for his efforts year after year.
